When looking to dropship clothing to source and sell on your eCommerce store, there are a massive variety of options and different clothes to choose from.
Uniquely, the fashion and apparel industry is an excellent business. With the steady increase in online shopping, there is huge opportunity.
However the downside to typical retail clothing stores is stocking and managing the absolute behemoth amounts of different sizes for every kind of person.
From the XXL hoodies, and that one t-shirt design that just will not sell...
I used to work in an Adidas outlet store, and trust me, you do NOT want to deal with the mess of stocking clothing.
In this post, we're going to take a look at all your different options you have for sourcing clothes and dropship apparel.
How Dropshipping Works
For all the beginners, dropshipping is an order fulfillment method that removes you (the seller) from the fulfillment process.
When a customer orders clothing from your store, you send the order off to your supplier and they pick, package, and ship that order to your customer.
The products are stored at the suppliers warehouse and you don't touch them at all.
However, you are responsible for all customer service and marketing efforts.
Depending on your supplier, they can handle returns which would be sent back to their warehouse.
How To Dropship Clothing And Make Money
In order to actually generate a profit with this business model, you are effectively building an eCommerce store where you sell your clothing products.
You sell these pieces of clothing for a markup.
How much you charge your customers for the product should be in relation and keep in mind the cogs (cost-of-goods-sold).
This is your operating cost to sell the items on your store and what it costs to send them to your customer.
Aside from your numbers to determine pricing, you also need to consider how you structure your store.
Your clothing brand should give value to visitors and explain the exact measurements, fabric content, washing instructions, and what they can expect when they order from you.
Up next are a few of the different supplier options you have to dropship clothing.
Dropship Clothing Suppliers (Top 3 Excellent Options)
When looking into starting your drop shipping clothing business, you need to do some research into different clothing suppliers.
Finding great dropship clothing suppliers are crucial to your business success.
Take a look at these 3 excellent options to help you get started.
#1 - Print-On-Demand
This is by far your best option if you want to dropship clothing with no upfront cost in a simple and easy manner with the ability to customize your products.
This method allows you to create your own clothing designs for t-shirts, hoodies, and really anything else you can think of.
If you're designing graphics and designs, this is definitely the option you want to go with as it makes orders simple.
Whenever an order comes in from one of your customers, with the combination of Printful and Shopify, the order is automatically synced and begins fulfillment.
There is a cost to it, but this allows you to get back to selling your products with minimal technical management on the back-end.
Learn How To Create Your Own Print-On-Demand Products
In the method shared in the video, you're effectively designing a graphic that is unique to your niche and personal style.
You can either create the print-on-demand designs yourself, or hire and outsource the design process through websites like Fiverr or Upwork if you aren't much of an artist yourself.
Ultimately, your creativity and ability to offer something people want is what makes or breaks your ability to make sales.
In order to succeed with the dropship clothing business model, it can take more creativity.
#2 - AliExpress
Alternatively, you also have the option to source your products through AliExpress to dropship clothing. This method allows you to find products that are popular and designs that are already selling.
Comparatively, you are not customizing or creating products but instead operating as the middle-man selling at a markup for your clothing store.
This is excellent if you just want to sell products in the clothing niche, without any of the work behind creating designs.
The fastest and best way to make dropshipping easy for fulfilling orders with AliExpress is the Oberlo and Shopify combination.
There are infinite different options for all the kinds of products you can source from AliExpress. From jackets, t-shirts, and any other type of product you can think of.
*Important* One thing to keep in mind is that the sizing on these clothing products are much smaller than traditional clothing sizes in the american market, or many other countries. Generally a "medium" size, would translate into a "small".
This is something you need to account for when reselling these clothes, and is a bit of a downside to choosing this option.
#3 - TaoBao
Another option to source your clothing from is TaoBao.
Now, this website is predominately written in Chinese, and does not have a simple English or easy alternative translation like AliExpress.
If you speak Chinese, more power to you as this options will be easier for you to navigate.
All that aside, this website does offer a much wider range of more fashion forward products to fill your clothing store.
Additionally, it even made the list of the best AliExpress alternatives.
I personally have a few pieces from this site myself and the quality is absolutely amazing.
However, not everything on the site is high quality of course, but just take a look through the images and reviews. (The same goes for all the previous options above).
The clothes are incredibly cheap, yet the shipping can be a bit of a dilemma. The shipping times are around two weeks or longer.
The process typically requires you to ship it from the manufacturers at TaoBao, to another distribution company that can ship your clothes anywhere.
When ordering the clothes from this site, I actually had a friend do it who is more familiar with the site. He orders with them regularly, and understands the order process.
That said, you can follow this guide to assist in your ordering process.
The sizing issues do also apply for TaoBao. Make sure order a couple sizes larger for your customers when fulfilling orders. You may want to test a few out yourself to get an idea of the sizing before selling them on your store.

Ecommerce SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Traffic
When starting up with a low budget, my best recommendation is to go for organic traffic. This can be through social media, but the best by far is search engine optimization, or SEO for short. This traffic source is much more consistent than any other and can bring in traffic for years after the effort is put in initially.
Many people will recommend social media for a clothing brand, which is great as well don't get me wrong. It's just much more expensive, and can be fickle.
If you have connections to people with large followings, or you yourself already have one, then I'd definitely recommend you go all in on it.
Clothing is excellent for social media promotion, as people can wear it to show it off.
The Final Word
Overall, it's up to you how you want to get traffic to your eCommerce clothing store and business. Just remember, traffic can be one of the main reasons a business doesn't ever make any money.
